News Trip of Love Musical to Open in Japan; Eyes Broadway in 2009 Trip of Love, a new dance musical set to the hit songs of the 1960s, will make its world premiere in April at the Theatre Brava! in Osaka Business Park in Osaka, Japan. The musical is eyeing a possible arrival on Broadway in spring 2009.

Created, directed and choreographed by James Walski, previews will begin April 4 with an official opening April 14. The cast will feature a host of New York actors, including Bo Broadwell, Joey Calveri, Anika Ellis, Ashley Blair Fitzgerald, Kristin Piro, Rachelle Rak, Mahri Relin and Nicky Venditti. Additional casting will be announced shortly.

The production will feature scenic design by Shusaku Futamura and James Walski and costume design by Tony Award winner Gregg Barnes (Legally Blonde, The Drowsy Chaperone).

Trip of Love, according to press notes, is described as such: "Mini-skirts are all the rage. The Beatles are on the top of the charts. Loved ones are fighting overseas. It's 2008 and echoes of the 1960's resonate for a modern audience reliving the turbulence and joyous rebellion of a decade that changed the cultural fabric of a nation. Through the psychedelic sights and sensational scenes of the era that continue to live on in pop culture, Trip of Love dances from 1960 to 1969 to the beat of the decade's most famous and enduring songs."

In a statement producer Makoto Deguchi said, "Osaka is a city on the brink of becoming the next entertainment capital in Japan and I couldn't be more proud to debut Trip of Love there with the bountiful support from the city of Osaka and the promotional support from the local media and ticket agencies."
