Kicking off with the Al Jolson vehicle "The Jazz Singer" Oct. 5 at 6 AM, the 93 films chronicling the history of the genre will be spliced with interstitial segments featuring Tony Award winners Jason Alexander and Susan Stroman.

Among the numerous titles featured in the festival include Show Boat, Girl Crazy , 42nd Street, Roberta, Swing Time, On Your Toes, Top Hat, Babes in Arms, Strike Up the Band, Yankee Doodle Dandy, Holiday Inn, For Me and My Gal, New Moon, Babes on Broadway, Meet Me in St. Louis, Easter Parade, An American in Paris, Royal Wedding, Singin' in the Rain, Oklahoma!, South Pacific, Gigi, A Star is Born, Seven Brides for Seven Brothers, West Side Story, My Fair Lady, Oliver!, Funny Girl, How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying, Fiddler on the Roof and New York, New York.

Fred Astaire, Ginger Rogers, Bing Crosby, Maurice Chevalier, James Cagney, Judy Garland, Gene Kelly, Lucille Ball, Paul Robeson, Mickey Rooney, Lena Horne, Rita Hayworth, Angela Lansbury, Cyd Charisse, Rita Moreno, Leslie Caron, Liza Minnelli and Barbra Streisand are among the names that populate the screen musicals slated to run.

"Mad About Musicals" will span over 50 years of the movie musical from the late 1920's to the 1970's. The cable network are also sponsoring a tie-in sweepstakes in which musical fans can win the "Seven Brides for Seven Brothers" 2-disc Special Edition and "That's Entertainment! The Complete Collection" Deluxe four-disc DVD sets, an Apple iPod with 100 free downloads on iTunes (for the latest in available showtunes, no doubt) and a trip for two to the world premiere screening of the upcoming Joel Schumacher movie version of Andrew Lloyd Webber's The Phantom of the Opera in New York City.
