TUTS’ 50th anniversary season will open with Rodgers and Hammerstein’s Oklahoma! (September 11–23), followed by the Charlie Smalls-William F. Brown musical The Wiz (October 23–November 4), Disney’s Beauty and the Beast (December 11–23), the ABBA hit Mamma Mia! (February 19–March 3, 2019), and Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty’s Tony-winning American epic Ragtime (April 16–28).
A title-to-be-announced will take the final June-July slot.
Knechtges was Tony-nominated for his choreography for the Broadway musical Xanadu in 2007. He directed and choreographed the Tony Award-nominated musical Lysistrata Jones in 2011, and also choreographed the Broadway productions of Sondheim on Sondheim, 110 in the Shade, and The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee.
