Mary Sinclair, a theatre, TV and film actress who was married to director George Abbott for a time, died Nov. 5 in Phoenix, The New York Times reported. She was 78.
Ms. Sinclair was born in San Diego and was a model before going into acting. She appeared summer stock and married Abbott, the famed Broadway producer and director known as "Mr. Abbott," in 1946. The marriage dissolved in 1951.
She worked in live TV in the golden age of such dramatic programs as "Playhouse 90," "The United States Steel Hour," and "Studio One." The Times reported that after her career on the small screen faded, she became a painter and directed local theatre productions.
