Real life twins Luc and Benni Cordon will co-star as twin brothers in the Bare Stage production of Jean Anouilh's rarely revived Ring Round The Moon. Previews start at Off-Broadway's Theatre Row Theatre Nov. 6. The show opens Nov. 8.
Written by French playwright and director Anouilh (Antigone, Becket) with a translation by Christopher Fry, Ring Round the Moon brings a poor ballerina to the grand party of Fredric and Hugo, two wealthy twins and their aunt. In the style of classic romantic comedy, all four characters are enveloped in the rules of love, with purity and wealth at odds with each other.
Originally produced as L'Invitation au Chateau in 1947, Ring Round the Moon ran 68 performances at the Martin Beck in 1950. Directed by Peter Brook Ring's cast featured Paul Scofield, Claire Bloom and Margaret Rutherford.
Luc Cordon directs the Bare Stage cast including Andrian, Maria Brooks, Frank Copeland, Matt Healy, Deborah Maier, Beth Phillips, Marilyn Posner, George Anthony Sargia, Thomas Snyder and Marissa Viola.
Troy Hourie designed the set, Careen Fowles the costumes and Luis Fidel Rodriguez designed the lights. Tickets for Ring are $15 and available by calling Ticket Central at 212-279-4200. The Theatre Row Theatre is located at 424 West 42nd Street.
