The comedy, which pays tribute to the Coen Brothers' film "The Big Lebowski," but uses Two Gentleman of Verona as a starting point, has yet to begin previews. Performances run March 18-April 4.
Two Gentleman of Lebowski has gained notoriety since the adaptation materialized online and through Facebook. Early performances began selling-out once the New York run was announced.
The cast will feature Brianna Tyson as Maude Lebowski, Josh Mertz as Geoffrey Lebowski, Matthew Gray as Joshua Quince, Becky Byers as Bonnie Lebowski and Craig Kelton Peterson in a variety of roles. The production is designed and directed by Frank Cwiklik and choreographed by Becky Byers.
Inspired by, but unaffiliated with the Coen Brothers film "The Big Lebowski," Two Gentleman of Lebowski asks, "What if... William Shakespeare wrote 'The Big Lebowski?'" The work is described as a "parody of Shakespearian archetypes, theatrical convention, modern pop culture, and especially the most beloved work of the Brothers Coen..."
"The Big Lebowski" is the Coen Brothers' 1998 film that starred Jeff Bridges as an unemployed slacker (and bowler) who meets a multimillionaire with the same name. The cast also featured John Goodman, Steve Buscemi, Philip Seymour Hoffman, Julianne Moore and John Turturro. Visit HorseTrade.
