Two-time Tony Award winner Judy Kaye returns to Broadway September 28 in the hit musical Anastasia at the Broadhurst Theatre.

The Broadway favorite steps into the role of Dowager Empress, the part created by original company member Mary Beth Peil.

Kaye won a Tony Award in 2012 for her work as Duchess Estonia Dulworth in Nice Work If You Can Get It and previously in 1988 for her performance as Carlotta in Phantom of the Opera. She is well-known for many additional stage roles, including the original companies of Mamma Mia! and Ragtime.

Anastasia opened on Broadway April 24, 2017, at the Broadhurst. The company is currently led by Christy Altomare, Zach Adkins, John Bolton, Vicki Lewis, and Max von Essen.

The new musical, inspired by the film of the same name, features a book by playwright Terrence McNally, a score by Stephen Flaherty (music) and Lynn Ahrens (lyrics), and direction by Tony winner Darko Tresnjak.
