It's not in rehearsals yet, but the show is selling so briskly that the added performances were announce by A.C.T. on Feb. 7. No casting has been announced, but Tony Award winner Betty Buckley appeared in an earlier workshop of the musical, playing Anna Madrigal.
Here's how A.C.T. bills Tales of the City: "Three decades after Armistead Maupin mesmerized millions with his daily column in the city's newspapers, detailing the lives and (multiple) loves of Mary Ann, Mouse, Mona, Brian, and their beloved but mysterious landlady, Mrs. Madrigal, his iconic San Francisco saga comes home…"
The extension includes a new special 7 PM performance on June 26, the evening of the San Francisco Pride Parade. A new preview performance has also been added on Wednesday, May 18 at 8 PM.
Armistead Maupin's Tales of the City will now run May 18-July 3 at A.C.T. (415 Geary Street, San Francisco). Performances are Tuesdays-Saturdays at 8 PM (June 7 performance is at 7 PM); Wednesdays, Saturdays, and Sundays at 2 PM (no matinee performances on May 18, 21, 22, 25, and June 1 and 26); and additional preview performances on two Sundays, May 29 and June 5, at 8 PM.
The press night for the show is May 31 at 8 PM. The official opening night is June 1.
