News U.K.'s BBC Proms to Feature Celebrations of War Horse and Kiss Me, Kate The annual BBC Proms – a celebration of global classical music that runs at London's Royal Albert Hall from July 18 to Sept. 13 and is also broadcast on BBC Radio 3, BBC TV and online – will feature a War Horse Prom (Aug. 3), featuring music from the National Theatre's hit production by Adrian Sutton, as well as war-themed songs.



The evening will feature life-size puppets from the production. The BBC Concert orchestra will be conducted by David Charles Abell, and there will be an appearance by the Proms Military Wives Choir, directed by Gareth Malone. Discovered in the Royal Academy of Music’s archive, the "New War Hymn" written by Sir Henry Wood (founder of the Proms) in response to the outbreak of the First World War, will be given its modern day premiere as part of the Prom. 

Other theatre-related highlights of the Proms will see Cole Porter's Kiss Me, Kate receive its Proms debut Aug. 2, in a staged performance featuring John Wilson and his orchestra.
