The evening will feature life-size puppets from the production. The BBC Concert orchestra will be conducted by David Charles Abell, and there will be an appearance by the Proms Military Wives Choir, directed by Gareth Malone. Discovered in the Royal Academy of Music’s archive, the "New War Hymn" written by Sir Henry Wood (founder of the Proms) in response to the outbreak of the First World War, will be given its modern day premiere as part of the Prom. Other theatre-related highlights of the Proms will see Cole Porter's Kiss Me, Kate receive its Proms debut Aug. 2, in a staged performance featuring John Wilson and his orchestra.
