News Ulla-La! Producers' Blonde Bombshells Shift Starting Nov. 2 A handful of actresses will be packing their blonde wigs and moving in and out of the North American companies of the smash musical, The Producers, starting Nov. 2.

Angie Schworer, who understudied Tony Award-winner Cady Huffman on Broadway and became the Swedish blonde bombshell Ulla in the Los Angeles company, leaves L.A. Nov. 2 to play the Broadway company starting Nov. 4.

The L.A. company is known as the Max company, after the title producer Max Bialystock, and was the first company to hit the road, in September 2002. The troupe settled into L.A.'s Pantages in May 2003 and continues there to Jan. 4, 2004, with Martin Short and Jason Alexander starring.

The Leo company (named for Leo Bloom) launched in June 2003 and is currently in Chicago, at the Ford Center for the Performing Arts Oriental Theatre, to Nov. 30.

Ida Leigh Curtis' last performance as Ulla in the Leo company in Chicago is Nov. 2. She starts in L.A. Nov. 4 (replacing Schworer). Renee Klapmeyer takes over as Ulla on Nov. 4 in the Leo tour.

Erika Rominger joins the ensemble of the Leo company to understudy for Ulla.

Sarah Cornell, the current Broadway Ulla, leaves Nov. 2 to join the dawning Toronto company.
