Classic Arts News Union Collecting Instruments for New Orleans Musicians The New Orleans musicians' union is seeking used instruments for players who lost their instruments to Hurricane Katrina, the American Federation of Musicians announced.
"Immediately after the storm, we heard from people saying they had old instruments, asking if there was anyone who might need them," said Kim Foreman, an officer of AFM Local 174-496 in New Orleans. "It really helps musicians in this time of need to be able to play an instrument."

After assembling the instruments in its headquarters, the local will send out list of available instruments and an application form to union members.

"Harps, drums, pianos... You name it, we need it," Forman said.

To donate an instrument, call 504-947-1700 or email [email protected].
