Unofficial Yale Cabaret to Present 2004 New York Fringe Play Valiant

News   Unofficial Yale Cabaret to Present 2004 New York Fringe Play Valiant For its next production, the new Off-Broadway troupe called The Unofficial New York Yale Cabaret will present Valiant, one of the hits of the 2004 New York International Fringe Festival.

It plays Feb. 24-March 11 at the Laurie Beechman Theatre in the West Bank Cafe.

The Unofficial New York Yale Cabaret is a new theatre company comprised of graduates of the Yale School of Drama. The company's intention was to model itself on the famed Yale Cabaret formed in 1968 at Yale University. The latter's performances were always presented in a pub-type atmosphere, with food and drink served.

Adapted by Lanna Joffrey from Sally Hayton-Keeva's book "Valiant Women in War and Exile" (which just happened to be published by Yale University Press), Valiant is "a multi-media docudrama featuring 13 women's word-for-word accounts of their experiences as perpetrators, victims and survivors of wars great and small throughout the 20th century." According to press notes, the script has undergone many changes since its Fringe incarnation.

Tamilla Woodard directs original cast members Tami Dixon and Sharahn Larue.

The West Bank Cafe is at 407 W. 42nd St. at Ninth Ave. Tickets are $15 and can be purchased at www.Theatermania.com or by calling (212) 352-3101. Food and drink served with no minimums. More information can be found at www.unyyc.org.
