News   Updated: AT&T Responds to Tweet Urging Users to Watch Football at the Theatre After Broadway Erupts

As of late, it seems as though hand-held devices are taking over Broadway, even though performers and artists are doing all they can to get audience members to put down the phone. Just when you thought things were looking up, wireless provider AT&T sent out a tweet that left theatregoers in shock.

At 11 AM, the company tweeted an image that said, "Catch a winning play at the theater," with an audience member watching football from their phone. The post was deleted some time before 5 PM, but a screenshot of the tweet is below.

AT&T responded to the Playbill report.

However, the theatre community will not stand for the ad promoting phone use inside the theatre.
