Representatives for the eight-year-old British performer confirmed to Playbill.com Aug. 7 that Sophia Grace will portray Little Red in the film.

"Into the Woods" is currently in rehearsals in London. Shooting is expected to begin in September. It will be released in theatres Dec. 25, 2014.

Tony and Pulitzer Prize-winning Into the Woods book writer James Lapine authored the screenplay for the film based on his own book for the 1988 musical that has a score by Stephen Sondheim. During an October reading of the screenplay, Lapine had streamlined the musical into a two-hour treatment for the screen.

Reported casting for "Into the Woods" also includes Emily Blunt to play the Baker's Wife, with Meryl Streep as the Witch, "Sweeney Todd" star Johnny Depp as the Wolf, Academy and Tony Award nominee Anna Kendrick ("The Last Five Years," "Pitch Perfect") as Cinderella, Tony Award winner James Corden (One Man, Two Guvnors) as the Baker, Daniel Huttlestone ("Les Misérables") as Jack and MacKenzie Mauzy (Giant) as Rapunzel.

Actors reported for the film are Tony nominee Tammy Blanchard (Gypsy, How to Succeed) as Florinda, Lucy Punch ("Bad Teacher") as Lucinda, Tony nominee Billy Magnussen as Rapunzel's Prince, Chris Pine (The Atheist) as Cinderella's Prince, Tony Award winner Christine Baranski (Hurlyburly, The Real Thing, "Mamma Mia!") as Cinderella's Stepmother and Tracey Ullman as Jack's Mother. Into the Woods features a Tony-winning score by Sondheim and Tony-winning book by Lapine, who also staged both Broadway productions of the musical. Into the Woods premiered on Broadway in 1987 at the Martin Beck Theatre starring Bernadette Peters, Chip Zien, Joanna Gleason, Kim Crosby and Robert Westenberg. The original cast performance was preserved by PBS' American Playhouse in 1991. A 2002 Broadway revival played the Broadhurst Theatre.
