News Urban Cowboy Star Enters Broadway Spotlight June 2 Matt Cavenaugh, who recently starred in the short-lived Broadway musical Urban Cowboy, will go it solo June 2 at the Ars Nova Theatre.

Cavenaugh is the latest offering in the Broadway Spotlight Series, which presents concert evenings with stars of the Broadway stage. Others who have taken part in the series include Les Miz’s Lauren Kennedy, Hairspray's Shoshana Bean, Into the Woods' Chad Kimball, Aida's Felicia Finley, former Rent-ers Anthony Rapp and Idina Menzel and Funny Girl’s Leslie Kritzer. The series will be on hiatus after this concert and will resume in September. Cavenaugh is expected to offer an eclectic array of tunes, including selections from the worlds of rock, pop and musical theatre. Tom Kitt will serve as the evening’s musical director; show time is 8 PM.

Matt Cavenaugh recently made his Broadway debut as Bud in Urban Cowboy, which ended its run May 18. He also appeared in the national tours of Ragtime, Strike Up the Band and Grease! as well as in the regional productions of Dorian, Footloose and john and jen. Cavenaugh can also be seen in the film “The Ballad of Sexual Dependency.”
