The Doras celebrate excellence in theatre, dance and opera in Toronto, and are split into five divisions that address differing production sizes and budgets, as well as different disciplines: General Theatre, Independent Theatre, Theatre for Young Audiences, Dance and Opera.
Director John Rando and choreographer John Caraffa won Doras for recreating their Broadway work on Urinetown for the resident Canadian premiere of the musical satire (it played CanStage in 2004-05). The show won six awards in all.
