News flash to the residents of Tokyo: your town will soon be Urinetown. Speaking backstage at the 2002 Tony Awards, the musical's librettist and co-lyricist Greg Kotis said a Tokyo production of the satiric musical was in the works. As previously reported, a U.S. tour will begin in San Francisco and a London berth is set for 2003. Kotis won the 2002 Tony for Best Book and Kotis and Hollmann won for Best Score.
The duo also offered a hint as to the nature of their works in progress (while not revealed too much). "We're at a very early stage," said Kotis. "But I'll say that one show takes place underwater and the other one is an adaptation of a film."
