The Public Theater celebrates the official opening of the American premiere of David Ireland’s Cyprus Avenue June 25. The acclaimed Abbey Theatre and Royal Court production, directed by Vicky Featherstone, began its limited Off-Broadway engagement June 2.

Cyprus Avenue received acclaimed engagements at London's Royal Court, Dublin’s Peacock Stage at the Abbey Theatre, and the MAC in Belfast. Returning to the production from the London run are Stephen Rea, Chris Corrigan, and Amy Molloy, along with new cast members Ronkẹ Adékoluẹjo and Andrea Irvine.

Rea stars as Eric Miller, a "non-negotiably British" Belfast Unionist who sees an uncanny likeness between his new-born granddaughter and the Irish republican leader, Gerry Adams. As his sanity starts to unravel, a lifetime of ingrained prejudice and unsettled identity pushes him to the edge in his determination to defend his family and his heritage.

The American premiere at The Public features scenic and costume design by Lizzie Clachan, lighting design by Paul Keogan, sound design by David McSeveny, and fight direction by Bret Yount. Performances are scheduled through July 29.
