He recently appeared on a DG disc of Taneyev's chamber music with Mikhail Pletnev and Ilya Gringolts.
"Making the Taneyev recording with all those superb musicians and Deutsche Grammophon's incredible team of producers and engineers was a wonderful for me," Repin said in a statement. "They made me feel like part of a close artistic family. So you can imagine what excitement I'm feeling now, what an honor it is for me to actually become a member of that family."
Born in 1971 in Novosibirsk, Russia, Repin made his St. Petersburg recital debut at the age of 11 and won the Queen Elisabeth Competition in Brussels at 17. He has since appeared with leading orchestras and in chamber music with Martha Argerich, Yuri Bashmet, Gidon Kremer, among others.
