The production was originally scheduled to begin previews Nov. 1 but was delayed a day due to Hurricane Sandy. In fact, the first four performances of the new musical are operating on a "Pay What You Can" basis. John Capo, the show's spokesperson, said in a statement, "Many people are still suffering the effects of Hurricane Sandy. There's no reason we shouldn't be doing everything in our power to give people who might otherwise be sitting in a dark apartment the opportunity to be entertained for a few hours regardless of their ability to afford a ticket."

Directed by Gabriel Barre, the cast comprises American Idiot’s Van Hughes and Hair’s Ryan Link with Alex Branton, Billy Brimblecom Jr., Michael Castillejos, Lori Fischer, Rebecca Hart, Jimmie James and Martin Landry.

Son of a Gun features music and lyrics by Don Chaffer with additional music and lyrics by Lori Chaffer and a book by by Chris Cragin and Don Chaffer.

The darkly comic folk rock musical "tells the story of Danderhauler Agamenon Khrusty, heir apparent to the Khrusty family band," according to press notes. "When Dan meets the love of his life, an awkward opening act named Lucy Sunshine, he’s forced to confront his charismatic but domineering father." The production also has scenic and projection design by Caite Hevner, lighting design by Alan Edwards, costume design by Leon Dobkowski and props design by Sarah Dowling. Colin Miller is the production stage manager.
