News Vanities and Next to Normal to Play Seattle in 2011 A host of the Seattle area's leading regional companies, including the 5th Avenue Theatre, A Contemporary Theatre and the Village Theatre, will align to present a new production of Vanities and the national tour of the Tony-winning musical Next to Normal.

After an Off-Broadway run at Second Stage last summer, Vanities will be presented by A Contemporary Theatre and the 5th Avenue in winter 2011 at ACT. 5th Avenue executive producer and artistic director David Armstrong will stage the musical that has a score by David Kirshenbaum and a book by Jack Heifner, based on his own play of the same name.

Kirshenbaum and Heifner will be involved in the development of the Seattle production, which will feature a company of regional actors. Both ACT and the 5th Avenue will share expenses and revenue.

Next to Normal, initially developed at the Village Theatre as Feeling Electric, will make a Seattle stop as part of its national tour itinerary Feb. 22-March 13, 2011, at the 5th Avenue.

The musical features a Tony-winning score by Tom Kitt (music) and Brian Yorkey (book and lyrics). Yorkey is the former associate artistic director of the Village, which will pair with the Seattle Theatre Group/Broadway Across America to present the Seattle engagement.

Subscriptions are available by phoning (206) 625-1900 or by visiting 5thAvenue.
