Bock is the 2007 Obie Award-winning playwright known for The Receptionist, The Thugs and Swimming in the Shallows. The Drunken City opens March 26 and plays to April 20.

Trip Cullman (Some Men, Swimming in the Shallows, Bad Jazz, The Last Sunday in June) directs a cast that includes Barrett Foa (Avenue Q, …Spelling Bee) and Maria Dizzia (Eurydice at Second Stage), with Cassie Beck (world premiere of Bock's Thursday at Encore Theatre), Mike Colter (A Soldier's Play at Second Stage), Sue Jean Kim (BFE at Playwrights Horizons) and Alfredo Narciso (A Streetcar Named Desire at Roundabout, The Misanthrope at NYTW).

According to Playwrights Horizons, "Off on the bar crawl to end all crawls, three twenty-something brides-to-be (Cassie Beck, Maria Dizzia, Sue Jean Kim) find their lives going topsy-turvy when one of them (Beck) suddenly begins to question her future after a chance encounter with a recently jilted handsome stranger (Colter). The Drunken City is a wildly theatrical take on the mystique of marriage and the ever-shifting nature of love and identity in a city that never sleeps."

Two-time Tony Award nominee John Carrafa (Urinetown, Into the Woods, Love! Valour! Compassion!) has created choreography for the tale of three brides-to-be who go out on the town. About the new play, Bock said in a previous statement, "There's a dramatic truism that when a character in a play is drunk, he or she will be the truth-teller, so I thought, 'Hey, why not write a play where everyone is drunk — that way truth'll be flying everywhich everywhere.'"

The production features scenic design by David Korins, costume design by Jenny Mannis, lighting design by Matthew Richards and sound design by Bart Fasbender. Production stage manager is Bess Marie Glorioso.

The performance schedule for The Drunken City is Tuesdays through Fridays at 7:30 PM, Saturdays at 2 & 7:30 PM and Sundays at 2 & 7 PM. Tickets are $45.

Tickets may be purchased online via TicketCentral.com, by phone at (212) 279-4200 (noon-8 PM daily), or in person at the Ticket Central box office at Playwrights Horizons, 416 West 42nd Street (between Ninth & Tenth Avenues).
