News Victoria Clark and Boyd Gaines Set for Feb. 27 Staged Reading A staged reading of Rachel Crothers' When Ladies Meet will be held Feb. 27 at the Culture Project in Manhattan.

The evening, which benefits The Acting Company's education programs, will feature the talents of Tony Award winners Victoria Clark and Boyd Gaines. Melvin Bernhardt will direct the 7 PM performance.

When Ladies Meet, according to press notes, concerns a "publisher’s mistress who unwittingly becomes friendly with the publisher’s wife. When the two women get together to discuss the characters of a new book one of them is writing, they are unaware that they both love the same man—just like the characters in the novel." The play was originally produced on Broadway in 1932.

Victoria Clark received a 2005 Tony Award for her performance in The Light in the Piazza. Her other Broadway credits include Cabaret, Urinetown, Titanic, How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying, Guys and Dolls and A Grand Night for Singing. Among Clark's screen credits are "Cradle Will Rock," "Law & Order," "Law & Order: SVU" and "Sweeney Todd in Concert." As a director, she recently helmed the 92nd Street Y's "Lyrics & Lyricists" series Serenade in Blue: The Mack Gordon Song Calvacade.

Boyd Gaines won Tony Awards for his performances in The Heidi Chronicles, She Loves Me and Contact. His other Broadway credits include Twelve Angry Men, Cabaret, Company and The Show Off.

The Acting Company, America's foremost touring repertory theatre and arts education program, was honored in 2003 with the Tony for Excellence in Theater. Founded in 1972 by John Houseman and Margot Harley, its alumni include Kevin Kline, Patti LuPone, Jeffrey Wright, Frances Conroy, Casey Biggs and Jesse L. Martin.
