Vienna's Kleine Komoedie, for years a top address for light comedy and farce, has been showing Ein Traum von Hochzeit since December 8. This is the first time Robin Hawdon's Perfect Wedding has been staged in Austria.

After 20 years of acting in British sitcoms and in the West End, Hawdon started writing plays in 1982. Among others, he penned the comedies The Mating Game and Don't Dress For Dinner, which have become hits in London as well as in theatres all over the world.

Ein Traum von Hochzeit tells the story of Bill and Rachel, a youngle couple whose plans for a perfect wedding get shattered as a result of Bill's turbulent bachelor party.

As it has become custom at the Kleine Komoedie, which has been rivalling the popular Kammerspiele at staging farces in Vienna, an interesting cast was assembled.

Like author Hawdon, all the principals have found success in television. Andreas Steppan (Bill) who stars in "Selfman" ( sort of Austria's answer to Tim Allen's "The Tool Man"). Elke Winkens (Judy) is hilarious in "Die Kranken Schwestern", a comedy show somehow akin to "Saturday Night Live". Dagmar Kutzenberger (Rachel) and Marcus Ganser (Dupont) present respectively quiz and kids' shows on TV. Horst Johanning has not only translated Hawdon's farce into German, but is also the director.

Performance times for Ein Traum von Hochzeit : Tue. - Sat. 8 PM, Sun. 4 PM. Tickets can be ordered at +43-1-512 42 80.
