Musical theatre fans can catch a free sneak peek at Kirsten Childs' new musical, Rumpelstiltskin, June 25 in New York City's Madison Square Park. The author of The Bubbly Black Girl Sheds Her Chameleon Skin will be on hand for this reading of her work. Based on the classic Grimm fairy tale about an evil creature who forces a young woman to spin straw into gold until she can guess his name and free herself, Rumpelstiltskin features a book, music and lyrics by Childs. Darius de Haas played the title character in recent readings, which also starred La Chanze, Steven Pasquale and John Jellison.
Rumpelstiltskin begins at 6:30 PM. Madison Square Park is located on Fifth Avenue and Madison between 23rd and 26th Streets and on the web at http://www.madisonsquarepark.org.
