PlayBlog Viola Davis and Kenny Leon Talk Fences on "Charlie Rose" Actress Viola Davis and director Kenny Leon visited PBS' “Charlie Rose” June 8 to discuss Fences, the Tony-nominated revival of the August Wilson modern classic in which Davis co-stars opposite Denzel Washington, and which Leon directs.


Davis, a Tony Award nominee for her work in Fences, previously won a Tony for Wilson’s King Hedley II and an additional nomination for Seven Guitars. Other stage credits include Intimate Apparel (Drama Desk Award), Everybody’s Ruby (Drama Desk Award), Pericles, As You Like It and God’s Heart. She holds an Oscar nomination for the film version of “Doubt,” and will next appear on screen in “The Help.”

Leon received his first Tony Award nomination for directing Fences. Other New York stage credits include Radio Golf, Gem of the Ocean, A Raisin in the Sun, Emergenc-See and Blues for an Alabama Sky.
