The singer replaces Mary Beth Peil who departs with original co-stars Antonio Banderas, Jane Krakowski and Chita Rivera.

Nixon joins the new cast of Nine which will feature John Stamos as Guido Contini, Eartha Kitt as Liliane La Fleur and Jenna Elfman as Carla. Rebecca Luker continues as Claudia — the role originated in this revival by Laura Benanti — and original Luisa, Mary Stuart Masterson, will stay on with the show through the limited engagement through Jan. 4, 2004.

Nixon has provided the singing voice to many movie musicals for Deborah Kerr, Natalie Wood and Audrey Hepburn in the films "The King and I," "West Side Story" and "My Fair Lady," respectively. She has appeared on Broadway in The Girl in Pink Tights, James Joyce's The Dead and Follies and Off-Broadway in Opal and Taking My Turn.

The new David Leveaux staging of Maury Yeston and Arthur Kopit's Nine began at Broadway's Eugene O'Neill Theatre March 21 and opened April 10. The show was originally scheduled for a limited run through June 29.
