News Voting for Avenue Q Puppet Contest Starts Feb. 1 Avenue Q has selected three finalists for its nationwide "One Night Stand" puppet creation contest, which will result in one handheld character making its Broadway debut in March.

The three winning creations, to be invited to New York with their creators and treated to dinner, a backstage pass and a performance of the 2004 Best Musical Tony Award winner, are Miss Greta Green (by Joe Kovacs of New York City), Kitty Swallows (by Theresa Cullen of Glendale, California) and Maurice Tipo (by Andrew MacDonald-Smith of Edmonton, Alberta, Canada).

Fans can vote for their favorite at www.avenueq.com Feb. 1-28. The grand prize winner will make an on-stage appearance in the show in March.

"What if there was a 'One Night' vacancy on Avenue Q?," posed the sweepstake competition. "Does your puppet have what it takes to join the famous cast of characters?"

Original Broadway cast member Rick Lyon created the puppets seen in the show.
