Melora Walters will join the previously announced Frank Langella and Ray Liotta for the new play. As first reported by Playbill On-Line, the show will play the Plymouth Theatre. Previews begin March 12 with an official opening scheduled for April 8. That theatre is the current home to the Rosie O'Donnell-produced Taboo, which ends its run Feb. 8. Match will mark the Broadway debut for Walters, who has appeared in such films as "Cold Mountain," "Magnolia" and "Boogie Nights." The actress will also be seen in the upcoming "The Butterfly Effect" opposite Ashton Kutcher and Amy Smart.
Frank Langella will play a Juilliard dance teacher in Belber's Match, which concerns a police officer trying to uncover a secret of his past. The Araca Group will produce, and Nicholas Martin will direct. The creative team will also include set design by James Noone, costume design by Michael Krass, lighting design by Brian MacDevitt and sound design by Kurt Kellenberger and Jerry Yager.
Match is about a husband and wife who "arrive on the doorstep of a once renowned dancer to interview him about his past. By night's end what they have learned will change them all forever." The playwright's other titles include Tape, A Small, Melodramatic Story, The Death of Frank and The Transparency of Val.
