Zoe Wanamaker and Liev Schreiber have been named recipients of the 1998 Joe Callaway Awards. The prizes are given out annually by Actors' Equity and honor the best performances in a classic play.
Wanamaker won for Electra , currently playing on Broadway. Schreiber won for his turn in the Public Theatre's Cymbeline .
Wanamaker is stage veteran with dozens of classical roles under her belt. She won an Olivier award in London for her performance as Electra . Shreiber, meanwhile, is primarily known for his recent film roles, including "Ransom," "Daytrippers" and "Scream."
The actors will receive their awards, which carry a $1,000 cash prize, at a ceremony on Jan. 8, 1999.
