News Want to Put on A Play in L.A.? May 4 Seminar Shows How LOS ANGELES -- Theatre L.A. and Actors' Equity will co-sponsor a seminar on May 4 at 7 PM in the James Cagney Boardroom of SAG (5757 Wilshire Blvd.) on "How to Produce Theatre in Los Angeles."

LOS ANGELES -- Theatre L.A. and Actors' Equity will co-sponsor a seminar on May 4 at 7 PM in the James Cagney Boardroom of SAG (5757 Wilshire Blvd.) on "How to Produce Theatre in Los Angeles."

The seminar will include a panel of producers, marketing people and contract specialists from Theatre L.A. and Actors' Equity. The audience will be "walked through" a production from start to finish, including show selection, budgeting, hiring artistic and production staff, choosing a theatre venue, dealing with Equity, casting, publicity and marketing, fund raising, audience development, and advice on seasonal and long-running shows, extensions and closings. A question and answer period will follow.

The discussion will cover all types of productions, venues, contracts and situations.
