Though Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS is busy gearing up for its annual Easter Bonnet Competition (April 19-20), that isn't the only big event on the horizon for the charity.

On April 26th at Broadway's Broadhurst Theatre, BC/EFA will present a celebration of the spoken word called, "The Playwright's The Thing," featuring scenes from works by Christopher Durang, Terrence McNally and Wendy Wasserstein, plus one collaboration by all three. Leonard Foglia (Master Class) directs.

Durang's plays include Laughing Wild and the current Off-Broadway hit, Betty's Summer Vacation. McNally wrote Master Class, Love! Valour! Compassion! and Corpus Christi. Wasserstein penned An American Daughter and The Heidi Chronicles.

According to BC/EFA spokesperson Michael Marino, celebrity cast members lined up for the night include Jane Alexander (Honour), Alec Baldwin, Christine Baranski (Lips Together, Teeth Apart), Betty Buckley, Zoe Caldwell, Stockard Channing (The Lion In Winter), Brian Dennehy, Whoopi Goldberg, Robert Klein (The Sisters Rosensweig), Swoosie Kurtz, Nathan Lane (Love! Valour! Compassion!), Patti LuPone, Steve Martin, Audra McDonald, Debra Monk, David Hyde Pierce, Susan Sarandon, Sigourney Weaver (Sex and Longing) and George Wendt (Art), with further celebs expected.
