Film & TV News Watch 12-Year-Old Luke Islam's Emotional Performance of ‘She Used to Be Mine’ on America's Got Talent The young singer earned the Golden Buzzer after nailing Sara Bareilles' Waitress ballad.

America’s Got Talent may have just found some new Broadway talent in performer Luke Islam. The 12-year-old from Garden City, New York, has been a Broadway fan for half his life, noting that he enters Broadway ticket lotteries every weekend and has seen Kinky Boots eight times.

On the July 8 episode of the show's 14th season, Islam took to the stage to sing from Sara BareillesWaitress. He earned a standing ovation from the audience and full panel of judges: Simon Cowell, Julianne Hough, Gabrielle Union, and Howie Mandel. But Hough had one more surprise in store for the contestant.

Bareilles and Jessie Nelson's Waitress continues at the Brooks Atkinson Theatre, where the musical opened in 2016. The cast is currently led by Wicked alum Shoshana Bean as Jenna, with Alison Luff stepping in later this month.
