News Watch Clip of Tonight’s CNBC Exposé on Broadway Musical Rebecca The troubled Broadway musical mired in mystery and money woes is examined in the August 11 episode of the true crime program.

Rebecca, the multi-million dollar, on-again/mostly off-again Broadway musical with a real-life story that overshadows the gothic Daphne du Maurier novel on which it is based, is the subject of the August 11 episode of the CNBC series American Greed, narrated by Stacy Keach.

TVGuide.com characterizes the episode, titled The Phantom Fraudster of Broadway, in the following manner: “A New York stockbroker swindles investors and causes a Broadway musical to fold.”

American Greed: The Phantom Fraudster of Broadway airs August 11 at 10 PM on CNBC.

The show’s producer, Ben Sprecher, sent a blind-copied email regarding the upcoming segment. Sprecher said he declined CNBC’s requests for interviews.

Originally announced to arrive on Broadway in 2008, Rebecca turned into one of Broadway’s biggest recent scandals following a series of mysterious missteps including fabricated emails, phantom investors, sinister accusations and multiple lawsuits that make the stuff of Broadway drama.
