Tony and Grammy-winning artist Cynthia Erivo performs the lilting Christmas melody “Silent Night” in a new arrangement.
The video, presented as a Kennedy Center Digital Stage Original, features Erivo and pianist Jason Webb.
Erivo made her Broadway debut in 2015 as Celie in the revival of The Color Purple, for which she won the Tony for Best Performance by an Actress in a Leading Role in a Musical. She won a Grammy as a vocalist on the 2017 Best Musical Theater Album for The Color Purple.
Most recently, Erivo released a music video with longtime friend and Broadway cohort Shoshana Bean, dueting on a cover of Taylor Swift’s “I Did Something Bad.”
She is slated to appear in the upcoming film Bad Times at the El Royale. She also filmed Widows alongside Viola Davis in her feature debut and will play Harriet Tubman in the upcoming biopic Harriet.
