PlayBlog Watch Highlights from the National Tour of Memphis With Bryan Fenkart (Video) The Tony Award-winning Broadway musical Memphis opened its national tour Oct. 16, following previews that began Oct. 14, at the Orpheum Theatre in Memphis, TN.

The musical, set in the 1950s, centers around an interracial love affair between white radio DJ Huey and black singer Felicia, played by Bryan Fenkart and Felicia Boswell, respectively. Here, Fenkart sings "Memphis Lives in Me" from the hit show; the musical also offers a glimpse into the recently launched tour, which was directed by Christopher Ashley.

Memphis, according to press notes, "takes place in the smoky halls and underground clubs of the segregated 50s, where a young white DJ named Huey Calhoun fell in love with everything he shouldn't: rock and roll and an electrifying black singer. Memphis is an original story about the cultural revolution that erupted when his vision met her voice, and the music changed forever."
