A host of stage and screen stars joined forces October 17 for Stronger Together, an evening at Broadway's St. James Theatre to benefit Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton’s Hillary Victory Fund. The event raised a reported $2 million for her campaign.

Organized by Vogue magazine editor-in-chief Anna Wintour, the evening was live-streamed.

Tony Award winner Billy Crystal hosted the fundraiser, which featured special guests Bill and Chelsea Clinton, along with Barbra Streisand (via video), Bette Midler, Jake Gyllenhaal, Jon Hamm, Lena Dunham, Ansel Elgort, Sara Bareilles, Julia Roberts, Lin-Manuel Miranda, Hugh Jackman, Sarah Jessica Parker, Matthew Broderick, Emily Blunt, Anne Hathaway, Josh Groban, Angela Bassett, Neil Patrick Harris, Helen Mirren, Sienna Miller, Bernadette Peters, Cynthia Erivo, Renée Elise Goldsberry, Rebecca Naomi Jones, Sarah Jones, Andrea McArdle and Ayodele Casel.

Clinton herself did not attend the event, but addressed the crowd with a video message, thanking the performers and inviting everyone to celebrate “America, where, yes, we are stronger together,” according to ABC News.

In addition to praising Clinton, many of the speakers took shots at her Republican opponent, Donald Trump.

Crystal joked that Trump’s campaign was the human equivalent of the hurricane season. "It starts out with a lot of hot air. You watch him spinning out of control. He hits America and causes a lot of damage and panic, but it’s completely over by November."

He opened the show with “Hillary Tonight,” a parody of “Comedy Tonight” from A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum with revised lyrics by Crystal and Marc Shaiman. (Complete lyrics at the end of this story.)

Lin-Manuel Miranda and Renée Elise Goldsberry performed this adaptation of “Ten Duel Commandments” from Hamilton, but with a list of things to do before the November 8 election, including "Number Two: Call some undecideds with your crew, your cousins in Ohio, maybe try to flip them blue":

Miranda did the performance after hurrying down from 175th Street in Washington Heights, where the PBS documentary, Hamilton’s America, had a gala premiere.

Barbra Streisand addressed the crowd via a taped message, followed by a performance of The Sound of Music’s “Climb Ev‘ry Mountain” (with Jamie Fox) from her Encore album:

Sarah Jessica Parker and Andrea McArdle—both of whom played the title role of Annie during the original run of that show—made a duet of ”Tomorrow”:

Here are some of the other highlights:

“Oh What A Beautiful Morning” from Oklahoma! – Hugh Jackman
“Wilkommen/Cabaret” from CabaretJoel Grey & Sienna Miller
“Been A Long Day” from How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying – Matthew Broderick, Sarah Jessica Parker & Victoria Clark

Referring to the performance of Sondheim’s “Children Will Listen,” Chelsea Clinton said, “What is at stake in this election is the future we want our children to grow up in, and whether or not we’re going to have a country we can be proud of, so that all of us can be ourselves," she said. “We want to wake up on November 9, and know that it is, ‘Oh what a beautiful morning.'”

The creative team included director Michael Mayer, musical director Seth Rudetsky, script consultant John Guare and special consultant Diane Paulus.

Producers were Jordan Roth and Richie Jackson, Stephen Schwartz and Harvey Weinstein.

The St. James Theatre is located at 246 West 44th Street.
