The episode featured a return guest appearance by Academy Award winner Gwyneth Paltrow as substitute teacher Holly Holliday, leading the glee kids in "Do You Wanna Touch Me (Oh Yeah)" and "Landslide," and dueting with Matthew Morrison on "Kiss." Stage and screen actor John Stamos was also back as Carl, the dentist husband of Emma (Jayma Mays), and got to make his own musical contribution in "Afternoon Delight." Darren Criss, Chris Colfer and the Warblers performed "Animal."
