PlayBlog Watch Ryan Murphy Announce the Winner(s) of "The Glee Project" (Video) On the season finale of "The Glee Project," which aired on Oxygen Aug. 21, the winner—or winners—of the competition were announced. "Glee" producer Ryan Murphy first told Samuel Larsen that he had won the competition; however, shortly after the applause died down, Murphy congratulated Damian McGinty and told him that he would share the title and they would both be given a role in the hit Fox series, "Glee."

The winners were awarded a seven-episode arc on the upcoming season. As for the two runner-up contestants, Alex Newell and Lindsay Pearce, Murphy announced that they would be given a two-episode spotlight in the coming season.

On the show, contestants were given a "homework assignment" that involved learning and practicing segments of a chosen song. At the beginning of each episode, contestants performed their respective parts of the song in front of a mystery guest judge from the "Glee" cast. The best singer, or the winner of the challenge, was given a one-on-one session with the guest star and a principal part in the music video.
