Written and directed by Conor McPherson, Girl from the North Country pulls from the songbook of Bob Dylan to present a new musical at London’s Old Vic Theatre.
The show, which officially opened July 26 and runs through October 8, is set in 1930s Minnesota around Thanksgiving at a local guesthouse. In addition to the inn’s owner, Nick, who is suffering under crushing debt, the story follows his unhinged wife, his alcoholic son, his daughter, who is carrying a child no one will account for, and a guest list that includes a preacher and a boxer who could change everything.
In the video clip from the show above, actor Sheila Atim, who plays Nick’s daughter, sings “Tight Connection to My Heart.”
The cast also includes Ron Cook, Bronagh Gallagher, Shirely Henderson, Ciarán Hinds, Claudia Jolly, Arinzé Kene, Debbie Kurup, Kirsty Malpass, Jim Norton, Tom Peters, Karl Queensborough, Sam Reid, Michael Shaeffer, Jack Shalloo, and Stanley Townsend.
