Tony Aidan Vo, Paris Ellsworth, Jacob Brandt, and Maya Sharpe dropped by the Playbill studio to perform “Stuff Up Here” from 1969: The Second Man, a new folk-rock musical about Buzz Aldrin, the second man to walk on the moon.
Billed as a “fable for the runner-up in all of us,” the musical explores competition and collective achievement through the story of one small man who became one giant myth.
Created by Brandt (The Great Glaciation), 1969: The Second Man features music and lyrics by Brandt and a book by Dan Giles (Breeders). Performances begin August 24 at the Fourth Street Theatre as part of New York Theatre Workshop's Next Door series.
Jaki Bradley directs the world premiere, and Lizzie Hagstedt and Angel Lin complete the cast.
Catch 1969: The Second Man through September 8. For tickets and more information visit 1969thesecondman.com.
