On April 30, the nominees for the 2018 Chita Rivera Awards gathered to greet each other and the press at Midtown’s Bond45 in celebration of the dance achievements in theatre and film.
The Chita Riveras, formerly known as the Astaire Awards, included seven categories for dance across Broadway and Off-Broadway, as well as two categories in film. The winners will be announced during an awards ceremony May 20 at at the NYU Skirball Center for the Performing Arts. The evening will also include presentation of special honors for dancer Carmen De Lavallade—a 2017 Kennedy Center honoree—composer John Kander, and producer and director Harold Prince.
