In the fourth part of a video series celebrating the musical Come From Away, about a group of travelers whose planes were diverted to Gander, Newfoundland, during the events of 9/11, the creatives behind the hit musical discuss the global impact of the show's story, as well as the impact that global audiences have had on the show in return.
"Everyone who has come from England or Australia or Europe say that they were in the same moment with us," says writer David Hein. "It's amazing to see this tiny story about Newfoundland resonate across the world, and realize that this was really a universal story. We were all in that moment together."
The acclaimed musical, which premiered on Broadway in spring 2017, made its New York debut after playing tryouts at La Jolla Playhouse, Seattle Repertory Theatre, Ford’s Theatre in Washington, D.C., and Toronto’s Royal Alexandra Theatre. The musical also recently opened at London's Phoenix Theatre as an additional sit-down engagement plays Toronto. It will make its Australian premiere this July in Melbourne.
