Broadway News Watch The Great Comet’s Ingrid Michaelson and Brittain Ashford Sing ‘Sonya Alone’ Broadway’s original Sonya, Ashford, and incoming replacement Michaelson duet on the ballad from the Tony-nominated musical.

On July 3, recording artist Ingrid Michaelson made her Broadway debut as Sonya in the Tony-nominated musical Natasha, Pierre & The Great Comet of 1812. As the “good” cousin of Natasha, Sonya sings a mournful ballad in Act II, written by Tony-nominated composer-writer-lyricist Dave Mallloy.

The song, “Sonya Alone,” has been noted as a highlight of the production. In the video above, Broadway’s original Sonya, Brittain Ashford, duets with the new Sonya, Michaelson, in a new arrangement of the solo.
