The musical, set in the 1950s, centers around an interracial love affair between white radio DJ Huey and black singer Felicia, played by Bryan Fenkart and Felicia Boswell, respectively.
Directed by Christopher Ashley, the tour also features Quentin Earl Darrington (Ragtime) as Delray, Rhett George (Sweet Charity) as Gator, Drama Desk nominee Julie Johnson (Candide) as Mama, Broadway veteran William Parry (Sunday in the Park With George, Passion) as Mr. Simmons and Will Mann, who recently appeared in the Broadway cast of Memphis, repeating his work as Bobby.
Memphis, according to press notes, "takes place in the smoky halls and underground clubs of the segregated 50s, where a young white DJ named Huey Calhoun fell in love with everything he shouldn't: rock and roll and an electrifying black singer. Memphis is an original story about the cultural revolution that erupted when his vision met her voice, and the music changed forever."
