Tina Fey is readying to premiere the new Mean Girls musical, based on Fey's 2004 film of the same name. In fact, Mean Girls celebrated Mean Girls Day on October 3 with an event in New York City that saw Fey handing out free cheese fries to fans from a food truck.
In the video above, Fey talks about her youngest daughter attending a spring run-through of Mean Girls the musical and taking away all of the wrong lessons. "She was going back to her preschool and being like, 'Let's play Mean Girls. I'm Regina and I yell at you!'"
Fey also spoke to Meyers about her experiences handing out food truck cheese fries as part of the show's Mean Girls day celebration in the clip below.
Mean Girls features a book by Fey, music by her husband Jeff Richmond, and lyrics by Legally Blonde the Musical's Nell Benjamin. The pre-Broadway engagement at Washington D.C.'s National Theatre begins performances October 31, with Broadway previews scheduled to begin March 12 at the August Wilson Theatre.
