The long-awaited Prince of Broadway arrived on the Main Stem to assume its throne. After a 2015 out-of-country tryout in Japan and years of development, the musical revue celebration of director-producer Harold Prince opened August 24 at Manhattan Theatre Club’s Samuel J. Friedman Theatre.

Spanning his six-decade career, Prince of Broadway begins with 1954’s The Pajama Game and includes excerpts of 17 of Prince’s 49 shows through the revival of Show Boat in 1994.

As on every Broadway opening night, Playbill hit the red carpet of the afterparty at the Bryant Park Grill in New York City to talk to Prince himself and his company. We talked to all nine cast members about their favorite moments in the show, the crazy quick changes, stepping into the shoes of Prince, Easter eggs in the sets, and what song they don’t sing that they would want to steal from a fellow cast member.
