Making her Broadway debut in The Lion King in 1997 and winning her first Tony Award for the title role in Aida in 2000, Heather Headley is one of Broadway’s favorite leading ladies. In her new concert, Broadway My Way, she puts a personal touch on the songs we all know and love. “Audiences can expect a collage of songs that have been with me for a little bit, that we’ve thought about for so long. But that are done a little differently, maybe done the way I hear them,” says Headley about her upcoming concert at Kings Theatre in Brooklyn on November 1 at 8 PM and the Emerson Colonial Theatre on November 3 at 8 PM.
“It has not been easy,” she admits, deciding which songs made it into the show and the accompanying album to be released later this fall. “For the album, we just kind of said, 'Well, here are these ten.' At least for now. I wouldn’t doubt if there’s a volume two or three down the road.”
