When the live-action remake of Disney’s Aladdin hits cinemas May 24, there will be a new sound to the song during the end title credits. Pop artists Zayn and Zhavia Ward duet on the romance ballad “A Whole New World,” as seen in the official music video above.
The original 1992 film also featured “A Whole New World” during its end credits, then sung by Peabo Bryson and Regina Belle. The song was first written for the original animated film by Alan Menken with Tim Rice.
The new Aladdin film, directed by Guy Richie, stars Mena Massoud in the titular role opposite Naomi Scott as Princess Jasmine. Will Smith plays the incomparable Genie of the Lamp. Marwan Kenzari plays Grand vizier Jafar with Navid Negahban as The Sultan. Rounding out the cast are Nasim Pedrad as Dalia, Billy Magnussen (Into the Woods) as Prince Anders, Alan Tudyk as the voice of parrot Iago, Numan Acar as Hakim, Robby Haynes as Razoul, and Frank Welker (the original voice of Abu and the Cave of Wonders) reprising his role from the 1992 version.
The stage adaptation of Disney’s Aladdin continues to run on Broadway at the New Amsterdam Theatre, having celebrated its five-year anniversary in January.
