PlayBlog We Hear You, Johanna Sarah Rice, the singer-actress who played the tremulous Johanna in the original Broadway production of Sweeney Todd, will bring her trill to the Laurie Beechman Theatre Sept. 14 to sing Screen Gems, songs from (and inspired by) the movies. Expect the music of Nacio Herb Brown, Michel Legrand, Simon & Garfunkle, Nino Rota, Jerome Kern and more.


She reported to her fans on Facebook that the 7 PM performance will include movie-musical songs or numbers devoted to Hollywood legends and roles. Tom Aulino directs, with Seth Weinstein on piano, Skip Ward on bass and Bobby Sher on drums.

There's a $25 cover and a $15 food/drink minimum. The Beechman is at the West Bank Café at 407 W. 42nd Street, in Manhattan. For reservations, call (212) 695-6909.
